GEM & GILD

Privacy Policy

What we collect, what we do not, and what happens when you click a link. Last updated 7 September 2026.

The short version

We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run a newsletter, and we do not sell anything directly. The only personal information we ever hold is what you type into the contact form. Everything else is aggregate analytics, and clicking a product link hands you over to Amazon, whose own policies then apply.

Who we are

Gem & Gild is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC. For any privacy question, email info@gemandgild.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

Only through the contact form: your name, your email address, the subject you selected and your message. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. We do not add you to any list, because we do not have one.

Contact form messages are delivered by email through Microsoft Graph and stored in the recipient mailbox. They are kept as long as needed to handle the enquiry.

Information collected automatically

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. It records things like pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP, device and browser type, referring site, and clicks on product links (recorded as an event so we can see which recommendations are useful).

This is aggregate and we do not use it to identify individuals. Google’s handling of the data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy, and you can opt out across all sites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard access logs - IP address, timestamp, requested URL, user agent - for security and operational purposes.

What we do not collect

  • No accounts, passwords or profiles - there is nothing to sign up for.
  • No email list, no newsletter, no marketing emails.
  • No payment information. You never pay us; purchases happen on Amazon.
  • No advertising network cookies, retargeting pixels or behavioural ad profiles.
  • We do not sell or rent personal information to anyone. There is no data to sell.

Affiliate links

Product links on this site route through our own /go/ redirect and then to Amazon with an affiliate tag attached. That tag tells Amazon the visit came from us so any commission is attributed correctly.

Once you land on Amazon, Amazon’s own privacy policy and cookies apply, not ours. Amazon typically sets a cookie to attribute a purchase within a limited window. We receive only aggregate reporting from Amazon - which products were bought and what commission was earned. We never see who bought anything, and we do not receive your name, address or payment details.

The full commercial picture is on the affiliate disclosure.

Cookies

  • Analytics cookies set by Google Analytics, to distinguish visits.
  • Retailer cookies set by Amazon after you follow a product link, under their policy.

We set no advertising cookies of our own. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works normally without them.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. In practice the only personal information we hold is contact form correspondence, so a request usually means deleting an email thread - which we will do on request.

  • Opt out of analytics using the Google add-on linked above, or a browser that blocks it.
  • Avoid retailer cookies by not clicking product links, or by browsing Amazon separately.
  • Ask us to delete your message by emailing info@gemandgild.com.

We honor browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals where our analytics provider supports them.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. We hold very little personal information in the first place, which is the most effective protection available. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we would rather say that than imply otherwise.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. The current version is dated 7 September 2026.
